Fox’s ‘A Christmas Story Live!’ adds Ken Jeong and David Alan Grier

Fox has unwrapped more castings for A Christmas Story Live!, its live production of the classic Midwestern holiday tale, which airs December 17. Ken Jeong and David Alan Grier have joined the company, along with L.A. boy band PrettyMuch.

The Dr. Ken alum will take a pair of roles: a Christmas tree salesman and a restaurant owner. Grier, who played the Cowardly Lion in NBC’s 2015 production of The Wiz Live!, will don the red suit to play Santa Claus. The PrettyMuch lads will turn up as carolers. They join the previously cast Maya Rudolph, Matthew Broderick, Jane Krakowski, Chris Diamantopoulos, Ana Gasteyer and newcomer Andy Walken as Ralphie.

Based on the 2012 Broadway production, the three-hour A Christmas Story Live! hails from Warner Horizon Unscripted & Alternative Television and will be executive produced by Grease: Live veterans Marc Platt and Adam Siegel. Jonathan Tolins and Robert Cary, who also worked on Grease: Live, serve as co-executive producers and writers. Scott Ellis is an executive producer and will serve as the director overseeing the stage direction. Alex Rudzinski also is an EP and will serve as the live television director.

The show will air at 7 PM live in the East and delayed at 7 PM in the West.
