Fox Buys ‘High Wire’ Cirque Drama From Kathleen York & Cary Brokaw

Fox has put in development High Wire, a drama series project from Kathleen “Bird” York (The West Wing) and producer Cary Brokaw (Angels in America).

Written by York, High Wire centers on Nicole Mora, a 26-year-old fledgling aerialist who, after suffering the loss of both of her parents, decides to run off to join an innovative startup cirque. Working her way up from tent crew to trapeze artist (to eventually running an entire cirque franchise), Nicole will not only have to earn her place in the eccentric, tightknit family of “cirkies,” she’ll have to go head to head with a force far more formidable than gravity. York executive produces with Brokaw. 20th Century Fox TV is the studio.

As an actress, York is known for her recurring role as Andrea Wyatt on The West Wing, and she’ll next be seen in Season 2 of Cinemax’s Outcast. She earned an Oscar nomination for her song “In the Deep” from Best Picture winner Crash, in which she also appeared. York is repped by WME for writing.

Brokaw was a producer on Closer and served as an executive producer on the Emmy-winning TV miniseries Angels in America. He’s repped by Skrzyniarz Mallean.
