Fox’s ‘Animal Control’ Renewed for Season 3

Fox is showing early confidence in Animal Control.

The broadcast network has handed out a third season renewal to the comedy series starring Joel McHale, with the pickup arriving a month before its sophomore run debuts.

Created by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg and Dan Sterling with Tad Quill attached as showrunner, Community grad McHale stars in the comedy that is the first series that Fox fully owns after the sale of its studio counterpart to Disney a few years ago. McHale and Jake Fuller also exec produce alongside Fisher, Greenberg, Sterling and Quill.

“Animal Control is an incredibly irreverent series that expresses everything viewers expect from a Fox comedy,” said Michael Thorn, president of scripted programming at Fox. “It has an amazing amount of momentum behind it, and we’ve been so impressed by the work Joel, Bob, Rob, Dan, Tad, Jake and the entire cast are delivering for season two, we wanted to reward them with the opportunity to deliver even more of this special show to fans next season.”

The series launched as Fox’s most-streamed debut in network history and most-streamed comedy episode ever, the network says, including 2.6 million views on Hulu.

Season two guest stars include Ken Jeong, Sarah Chalke and Krystal Smith, who will join co-stars Michael Rowland, Vella Lovell, Ravi Patel and Grace Palmer. It debuts Wednesday, March 6, at 9 p.m.

Animal Control is the first live-action scripted series to be renewed for the 2024-25 broadcast season and joins animated comedies Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, Grimsburg, Krapopolis and The Simpsons. Fox also has rookie shows Doc, Rescue: Hi-Surf and the animated Universal Basic Guys/The Hoagie Bros. in the works.
