Fox 2000 Options John Green’s ‘Turtles All The Way Down’
Fans of best-selling author John Green will be happy to hear that his latest young adult novel Turtles All The Way Down is headed to the big screen. The fast-talking Green posted a video today to make the announcement that he and Fox 2000 are working on an adaptation.
Fox 2000 recently optioned the novel with Green serving as executive producer alongside Rosianna Halse Rojas. This maintains the relationship between the author and studio and keeps in the spirit with Fox’s prior adaptations of Green’s teen-driven novels including Paper Towns and the uber-successful The Fault in Our Stars.
In the video (which can be viewed below), Green explains from a hotel room in Los Angele his writing process , saying “My books belong to me when I am working on them and when I am finished, they don’t.” He talks about the challenges of making a movie about a person with OCD and how the deal with Fox doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a done deal.
“It doesn’t mean there will definitely be a movie, but it means that there might be one,” said Green. “So now’s the time to begin inundating me with casting suggestions.”
Based on Green’s fan base, my guess is that a movie will probably get made so get those fan castings ready.
The story follows 16-year-old Aza, a girl with OCD, unintendedly pursues the mystery of fugitive billionaire Russell Pickett with her eager Best and Most Fearless Friend, Daisy. Together, they navigate the short distance and broad divides that separate them from Russell Pickett’s son, Davis. All the while Aza is trying. She is trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, a good student, and maybe even a good detective, while also living within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.
Temple Hill’s Isaac Klausner and Marty Bowen are set to produce Turtles All the Way Down. Erin Siminoff and Molly Saffron are overseeing for Fox 2000. The deal was negotiated by Kassie Evashevski at Anonymous Content on behalf of Jodi Reamer at Writers House.
