Founding Fathers Inspire Cher Performance on 'Making History'

On Making History Dan went back in time and met the lovely Deborah Revere. Having successfully wooed her with tales of all his great inventions — like television and the skateboard — Dan’s lies were finally catching up with him. In present time, Deborah stumbles upon the shocking truth that Dan was not the original singer of Cher’s “If I Could Turn Back Time.”

With a now angry Deborah going off into “yon woods,” Dan decides he needed to turn back time himself to ask Sam Adams and John Hancock how to win Deborah back. After regaling Dan with stories of killing off competitive suitors, they suggest Dan give Deborah the performance of a lifetime.

Donning all the gorgeousness of Cher, Dan goes into the woods to find his love and get her back, but the performance gets put on hold when he falls into one of Deborah’s traps — a literal trap, for bears and stuff.

Though his Cher plan failed, Dan’s gesture is enough to win Deborah back, and he ends up composing a real original song for her, including the inspired lyrics “smoking hot in that corset.”

Making History airs Sundays at 8:30 p.m. on AMC.
