Eminem is known for his legendary discography, but also the iconic rap battle from the 2002 film 8 Mile which he starred in. The popular video game Fortnite released new skins modeled after Slim Shady, and players used them to reenact the memorable lyrical joust.

The reimagining features the Detroit rapper’s character wearing a Black sweatsuit, white shirt, and headphones, taking on the role of B-Rabbit whom Eminem played in the movie. He stands on a dock opposite The Falcon, a character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, who is played by Anthony Mackie. This is a unique coincidence as Mackie played Papa Doc, the 8 Mile character who was B-Rabbit’s rap battle opponent.

The video continues with Eminem’s character rapping to a crowd of other Fortnite characters who are bopping along to his bars. Hilariously, The Falcon stands behind him with smoke coming from his ears. Eminem’s character turns to him, finishes his freestyle, and then drops the microphone. In true Fortnite fashion, the video ends with Eminem pulling out a shotgun and eliminating The Falcon.

The 8 Mile reimagining was so well executed that even Eminem’s longtime manager, Paul Rosenberg, commented on it. “I mean… wow!” he wrote via X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday (Nov. 29).

8 Mile came out in 2002 and was received well, especially noting the “Lose Yourself” rapper excelling in his film debut. The movie received multiple awards, namely an Academy Award for Best Original Song, two Grammy awards, two MTV Movie Awards, two Teen Choice awards, and two BMI awards.

Eminem reminded people of how great his music catalog is earlier this month with the release of The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (Expanded Edition), 10 years after the album was originally released. The 27-track project included five instrumentals for his songs “Survival,” “Berzerk,” “The Monster,” “Rap God,” and “Headlights.” Check it out below.
