Fortnite is back! Game returns after lengthy downtime to start new season

Fortnite is back!

After being down since early Friday morning, Epic Games announced Friday night that its popular Fortnite game was fixed.

"We’ve resolved an issue that caused some islands to update with the default description," Fortnite Status posted on X, formerly Twitter, at 10:15 p.m.

After having to download an update, the Northeast servers appeared to be working, but the long queue waiting time.

At 10:45 p.m., Fortnite tweeted: "We’re investigating errors related to purchasing and redeeming items, and when attempting to matchmake. We'll provide more info as we have an update."

At 1:15 a.m., Fortnite posted: "Queue times may continue to fluctuate in length over the next several hours while we are working to resolve an issue."

What happened to Fortnite?

The game went offline at 3 a.m. Friday in preparation for Myths & Mortals, Chapter 5 Season 2.

Fortnite always goes offline for a time for maintenance at the start of a new season. However, this time Epic Games "encountered an unexpected issue during our maintenance and we need to extend downtime."

The promo for the latest season of Fortnite promises mythical figures such as Aphrodite, Hades, Medusa, Cerberus, Artemis, Korra, Poseidon and Zeus.
