Lauer was ousted from the show in 2017 following allegations of rape and sexual misconduct.

Former Today host Matt Lauer was one of many notable guests who attended Don Lemon’s New York City wedding to his longtime partner, Tim Malone.

The couple wed on April 6, which also marked Malone's 40th birthday, at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in Manhattan with approximately 140 guests. Photos of the event featured famous attendees like The View's Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro-Cárdenas and Sunny Hostin, actor Alec Baldwin, music executive Clive Davis, talk show host Tamron Hall, and Lemon’s former CNN colleagues Kate Bolduan, Erin Burnett, and Dana Bash. Lauer also attended with his partner Shamin Abas, who he has been dating since 2019.

The event marks a rare public appearance for Lauer, who was famously fired from his role as a Today anchor in 2017, when former NBC employee Brooke Nevils alleged that he sexually assaulted her. Lauer denied the allegations, which were detailed in Ronan Farrow’s 2019 book about the #MeToo movement, Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predator. Several more women have come forward with sexual misconduct claims against Lauer, which he later issued an apology for.

"To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry," read Lauer's statement. "Some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized, but there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed. I regret that my shame is now shared by the people I cherish dearly."

Ahead of their nuptials Lemon, 58, and Malone spoke to PEOPLE about their decision to host a big, traditional wedding instead of an intimate ceremony.

“We wanted to make a public statement and we wanted to involve our loved ones,” Malone told the outlet. “We obviously could have easily gone to city hall. We could have used COVID as a perfect excuse to do something really quiet. But I think this is also a message. For I don't know what percent of our guests, on both sides, but for a lot of them it's going to be their first gay wedding.”

The couple began dating in 2016, almost a year after they first met at a Bridgehampton restaurant. They announced their engagement just three years later. Lemon, a news anchor himself, was abruptly fired from CNN in 2023, following an extensive Variety report with allegations of sexist behavior and the denigration of female colleagues dating back to 2008.
