In March the documentary series "Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV" aired on Investigation Discovery and quickly took the internet by storm.

Now, one of the main subjects of the series is suing the producers for defamation.

Rumors have been circulating online for years now about what really went on behind the scenes of some of the most successful Nickelodeon shows such as "iCarly," "Drake and Josh," "The Amanda Show," and "Zoey 101."

The five-part documentary series dives into these rumors and more, described by its IMDB page as a "docu-series that uncovers the toxic culture behind some of the most iconic children's shows of the late 1990s and early 2000s."

One of the main subjects of the documentary series is actor, producer, and creator of several successful Nickelodeon shows Dan Schneider, who parted ways with Nickelodeon in 2018.

As reported by USA TODAY, Schneider has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court, suing the producers of the docuseries for defamation. The suit alleges that the docuseries' portrayal of him "is a hit job" that implied that he "sexually abused the children who worked on his television shows."

"After seeing 'Quiet on Set' and its trailer, and the reactions to them, I sadly have no choice but to take legal action against the people behind it," said Schneider in a statement claiming that the series "mislead viewers" and "falsely implied" that he was involved with crimes in which "actual child predators have been prosecuted and convicted."

Aside from focusing on Schneider's time with Nickelodeon, the series discusses the arrests of two crew members for child abuse as well as the shocking abuse that former child-star Drake Bell suffered at the hands of his acting coach, who he met on a Nickelodeon set.

Schneider's initial response to the series in March was an almost 20-minute video posted to his YouTube channel where he sat down for an interview with Boogie, commonly known as T-Bo from "iCarly." They discussed several topics that were brought up throughout the series. Schneider said that watching the series was "very difficult" and said that he owes some people some strong apologies.
