Just days after ex-NFL star Sergio Brown had both of his Instagram accounts deactivated, the 35-year-old has been spotted partying it up in Tulum.
This news comes as a police investigation was launched after Brown first went missing on Saturday, September 16, around the same time his mother was found dead near a creek less than 100 yards from her house over the weekend.
The Search For Sergio Brown Continues
The search for Sergio Brown first began after his brother, Nick, posted to his Instagram on September 16 to inform the public that he was actively searching for his brother.
Brown, who played for the NFL, was missing alongside their mother, Myrtle Brown, 73.
“Folks, my mom Myrtle Brown and brother Sergio Brown are missing,” he typed. “I’m not waiting another hour. Please share! If you see them or one of them, please let me or the Maywood Police Office know!!”
Police then put out a missing person's report.
“Her family knocked on the door and was looking for her because they put out a police report because she was missing for 72 hours. So, we tried to help them as much as possible,” neighbor Carlos Cortez told WBBM.
The following day, Sunday, September 17, Myrtle Brown was found dead near a creek less than 100 yards from her house. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office determined she had died from injuries related to an assault, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide, according to spokesperson Natalia Derevyanny.
Sergio Brown Spotted Partying At Night Club
Despite his mother being found dead, and despite an ongoing police investigation, Brown is clearly enjoying his life as he was spotted in Tulum on Sunday, dancing and partying.
A witness told TMZ Sports that "the former Indianapolis Colts defensive back was at the venue for several hours, chatting it up with people and buying alcohol for others, before bolting."
Brown's demeanor also showed he had no concerns or remorse considering his mother was found dead just a few weeks ago. He was partying shirtless while on the dance floor at a popular club in Mexico.
Sergio Brown Blames FBI For His Mother's Death
Brown posted several videos to his apparent burner Instagram account, which has now been deactivated.
“Fake news, fake news. It has to be the FBI that came into my house on Bob Marley’s death day, with the 511 haze and gas — unwarranted," he said in the first video posted to Instagram. "They kidnapped me twice from my home. The Maywood, Ill. Police Department… it had to be the FBI or the Maywood Police.”
In a second video, he referenced the 2003 children’s film “Finding Nemo” and a missing persons report, seemingly filed by family members on Saturday. “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming,” he said repeatedly. “What the f–k? Missing? They ain’t never seen ‘Finding Nemo’? What the f–k is going on? This is traumatic. Lucky, I don’t have to say a joke. You … what the f–k? Just keep swimming,” he continued before laughing uncontrollably.
Police in suburban Chicago recently checked on the authenticity of Instagram videos that show the former NFL player discussing the recent death of his mother, who died following an assault. Per ESPN, “Maywood police spokesperson Carmen Rivera said in an email Tuesday, acknowledging police were aware of the videos and were investigating. Rivera did not immediately return messages Wednesday seeking an update.”
Both the burner account and his verified account, have been deactivated.
