Former McDonald’s Chef Goes Viral on TikTok with Best Supermarket Version of Big Mac Sauce

“I’m a former McDonald’s corporate chef and I have your best option,” he tells fast food enthusiasts

A former corporate chef at McDonald’s has gone viral on TikTok for finding the best store-bought dupe for Big Mac sauce — and people are lovin' it.

"This is if you don’t want to make Big Mac sauce at home,” the chef, Mike Haracz, says in the video, referencing another video he previously made on DIY-ing the popular condiment. He does, however, recommend making it from scratch for the most accurate possible replacement.

He also clarifies that his recommendation isn’t “the best” — instead, it’s the most comparable to the sauce served in McDonald’s restaurants.

In terms of conducting research, Haracz says he navigated to the official McDonald’s website, looked up the ingredients and nutritional information for Big Mac sauce. And, as expected, he also conducted various taste tests. The differences between his store-bought sauce of choice and Big Mac sauce were minimal, he says, but the store-bought pick has more preservatives, and doesn’t need to be refrigerated, unlike Big Mac sauce. It also has a slightly sweeter taste.

But ultimately, he made his decision.

“The one that best replicated Big Mac sauce from McDonald’s that you should go buy if you want it is… Great Value Secret Sauce,” he says, holding up a bottle of Walmart-brand liquid gold.

“Look at the ingredients statement — it’s almost identical,” Haracz adds. But McDonald’s enthusiasts may want to act fast, because it seems like the world is just making this delicious discovery.

“Your Walmart might be out of it; this was hard to find,” he warns, before wishing his followers “happy hunting.”

And really, who doesn’t love a McDonald’s hack? Last month, PEOPLE reported that McDonald’s has a secret menu McBrunch Burger that is only served for a few minutes around 10:35 a.m., when the restaurant is transitioning from serving breakfast to lunch. The sandwich combines both (hence the name McBrunch), sandwiching two cheeseburger patties with bacon, scrambled eggs, and a hash brown between two sesame buns.

However, it’s advised that when ordering anything from the “secret menu” that customers elaborate on what the order entails, as employees may not be familiar with the menu item by name.
