Former Local 5 chief political correspondent Amanda Krenz is returning to her roots.

Krenz, who bounced between We Are Iowa and WHO 13 during her central Iowa broadcasting career, will rejoin WHO as a storytelling contributor this fall.

The NBC affiliate recently announced that former WHO star Courtney Maxwell Greene would also return in the same contributor role.

Krenz first made a name for herself on central Iowa airwaves as a reporter and anchor at WOI. She later joined WHO for a one-year stint at the NBC station, according to her LinkedIn, before heading back to Local 5 for 10 years until her exit in 2018. She now works in the mortgage industry at Community 1st Credit Union in Indianola.

During an appearance earlier this week on "Hello Iowa!" with Megan Reuther and Jeriann Ritter, Krenz shared what viewers could expect from her return to local television after a five-year hiatus.

"As far as my contributions, it will be a range and it will be kind of free flowing. Wherever I'm needed, however I can help. I do think that I look forward to telling stories, to reporting on politics," Krenz said.

The mom of three boys said she was excited to work with friends and colleagues again.
