KCCI meteorologist Metinka Slater is back.

After leaving the local CBS affiliate in March 2022, Slater is joining WHO 13 as a part-time contributor. She is keeping her full-time job as the recruiting and community relations manager for Crest Services, a metro area nonprofit care services provider.

Slater worked for 16 years at KCCI before leaving the station to pursue a role at the organization.

"I’m thrilled to tell you that I have decided to accept a position outside of broadcasting that allows me to continue to work with the community and enjoy a more normal sleep schedule!" Slater said at the time.

Slater will join fellow local broadcasting returnees Courtney Maxwell Greene, Amanda Krenz and Lisa Carponelli at the station.

Slater appeared on the WHO 13 News at 4 last week to discuss her new role with Erin Kiernan, Jannay Towne and Jeriann Ritter. She will do some reporting in addition to filling in with the weather team.

"Any way I can help, I'll be glad to," Slater told the trio.
