Former eOne Int’l TV Exec Moves To Cineflix; ITV’s ‘Loch Ness’ Picked Up By Acorn — Global Briefs
Former Entertainment One Television International president Peter Emerson has acquired a minority stake in Cineflix Media and will serve as president at the Canadian company. In addition to his investment in the production and distribution outfit, Cineflix, which makes unscripted shows like American Pickers, Property Brothers and Mayday, is in the process of securing new financing with US banks which will include a senior operating line plus significant funding for acquisitions and content partnerships to drive growth. Emerson will be based in Cineflix’s Toronto office and will report directly to co-founders and co-CEO’s Glen Salzman and Katherine Buck.
ITV’s six-part thriller Loch Ness has been picked by RLJ Entertainment’s Acorn, seeing the company acquire all US television, digital and home entertainment rights in North America. The murder mystery, which is written by Stephen Brady and stars Laura Fraser and Siobhan Finneran, will debut on streaming service Acorn TV in Spring 2017. Set against the backdrop of Scotland’s famous loch, the drama follows a local detective search for a serial killer on the loose, her first murder case.
Melissa Madden has been appointed head of marketing UK and international at A+E Networks. In the newly created role, she will be responsible for marketing A+E Networks’ brands and content internationally as well as providing strategic marketing vision and guidance to regional sales and marketing teams across the network’s channels. She’ll report directly to Heather Jones, SVP content and creative, and general manager UK as well as Tom Lucas, head of global brand strategy and marketing. Madden joins from BBC Worldwide, where she was SVP content marketing and creative.
