Former Country Star Billy Gilman Makes a Comeback on ‘The Voice’
The Voice has always been about giving people second chances, and this year, 26-year-old former country star Billy Gilman is getting his shot on the show.
Gilman rose to promise at the early age of 11, when his single “One Voice” went gold. He became the youngest person to ever break into the Top 40 country chart, reaching all the way up to No. 2, and getting two Grammy nominations.
His time as a country star was short lived, though, as puberty changed his voice. And he came out as gay, further hurting his chances in the country music world.
Gilman, now grown up, got to sing a rounding rendition of Adele’s “When We Were Young” for the judges and got all of them to turn their chairs around.
The former country star was picked to be on Team Adam and advance in the competition.
The Voice airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 8:00 p.m./9:00 p.m. CT on NBC.
