Former College Athlete Says He’s Not A Drug Addict, ‘Because I Don’t Think I Fit The Stereotype’

Ira’s mother, Chante, says he was a talented high school athlete who landed a full scholarship to play college basketball. Then, she says, when Ira got to college, “everything derailed.” Chante says her son was introduced to partying and drugs and lost his car, his apartment, and his scholarship. She claims he is now homeless, addicted to drugs, and living on the streets. “Because he’s a drug addict, all of his dreams just went away,” she says. “I don’t consider myself a drug addict because I don’t think I fit the stereotype,” says Ira, who adamantly denies he has a problem with substance abuse.
