Former Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant to try out for WWE ahead of WrestleMania | Report

There could be a former Clemson Tiger in WWE in the near future. Former Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant is among a group of current and former college athletes who will try out for WWE this week. The tryout is part of a promotion ahead of WrestleMania this weekend in Los Angeles.

Fifty participants, including Bryant, will be evaluated in hopes of being offered a contract at the end of the week. Thirteen of the 24 men who will try out are football players.

The Wren High School alumnus spent three seasons at Clemson from 2015-18. His first season as starter was 2017, when he led the Tigers to a 12-2 record, an ACC title and a College Football Playoff appearance in which they lost to eventual champion Alabama. The following season, he was replaced as starter by Trevor Lawrence after four games. Bryant then transferred to Missouri, where the Tigers went 6-6 with Bryant at quarterback.

He was not selected in the 2020 NFL Draft and has since had brief stints with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL, the Bismarck Bucks of the Champions Indoor Football League and the Zappers of the Fan-Controlled Football League. He also spent time as a volunteer assistant at Wren.
