The "CSI: Miami" and "My Sister's Keeper" died earlier this month at 35.

Former child star Evan Ellingson's sudden death at 35 earlier this month has been ruled an accident.

A spokesperson for the coroner's division of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department confirmed to EW on Tuesday that Ellingson died from an accidental fentanyl overdose. The actor, best known for his work on CSI: Miami and in the 2009 film My Sister's Keeper, was found dead in his home in Fontana, Calif., on Nov. 5.

Ellingson's father previously told TMZ that his son struggled with drugs and had been residing in a sober-living home, but was doing better prior to his death.

Abigail Breslin, who starred opposite Ellingson in My Sister's Keeper, paid tribute to her screen sibling on social media after his death, remembering him as a "wonderful and sweet soul."

"Your time on this earth may have been, devastatingly, short," she wrote. "Your humor, exuberance, kindness and bright light will linger forever. Sending you peace on your journey to the great beyond."
