Former ‘Bachelorette’ Star Says She Was Drugged and ‘Accosted’ During the Show

Meredith Phillips, a former star of ABC’s “The Bachelorette,” has come forward saying she was drugged and “accosted” during her time on the show.

Phillips, who served as the Bachelorette on the show’s second season in 2004, said in an interview on the Reality Steve podcast that a massage therapist for the show drugged and “accosted” her in the tub of the room where she was staying.

Phillips said the woman, hired by one of the show’s producers, gave her a pill that made her drowsy.

“The last thing I remember is she got naked and she was in the tub with me, rubbing my back, and rubbing areas that she probably shouldn’t have,” she said, adding that she woke up naked with little memory of what had transpired.

She did not report the incident to the show’s producers, but Phillips said a friend of hers who worked on the show had a similar experience of being “roofied in a hot tub.”

Representatives for Warner Bros. Television, which produces the show, declined to comment.

Phillips’ account follows sexual assault allegations on last summer’s installment of “Bachelor in Paradise.” The ABC dating series briefly halted production and sent the cast home over allegations of misconduct surrounding a sexual encounter between two of its cast members. A subsequent investigation found no evidence of wrongdoing.
