Did He Hold Her Back?
Season 11 of The Bachelorette focused on Kaitlyn Bristowe and her quest for love, and while her relationship with winner Shawn Booth ended after three years, the she did help raise her profile and launch her career as a public figure.
However, Bristowe pointed out while she was a guest on the Talkhouse Podcast that show creator Mike Fleiss hasn't been supportive of her post-Bachelorette career, even blocking her from appearing on Dancing With The Stars.
Anxiety On Instagram
Bristowe, a former professional dancer, explained to host Nikki Glaser that Fleiss is no friend to women.
"They won’t let me [go on the show], ever. I’ll tell you exactly why I can’t go on Dancing with the Stars. Anybody that listens to this podcast knows why I cannot go on Dancing with the Stars. And it’s because, and I will say this with a mic in my hand and a smile on face, that Mike Fleiss is a piece of s—. He is the creator of The Bachelor, and he hates women."
After this interview, Bristowe posted a photo on Instagram with the caption "I'll have whatever wine pairs well with anxiety," possibly referencing the stress the situation has caused her.
Weiss In Hot Water
This isn't the first time that Bristowe has publicly referenced this incident, tweeting back in 2017:
"Actually I was offered it, had the contract & Mike Fliess told me I wasn't allowed. He said he didnt want people wanting fame after his show🤔"
Fleiss responded with "@kaitlynbristowe has my total support if she wants to appear on DWTS!!! #TheBachelor." However, Bristowe wasn't letting him off the hook so easily, saying "Thanks I'll get right on that opportunity 2 yrs ago. I wonder what changed your mind? 🙄"
An Inconsistent Policy
The latest Bachelorette Hannah Brown was allowed to compete on the show (and four Bachelors before her), and Bristowe released a statement congratulating Brown on her qualification.
"I’ve spoken out in the past about how Bachelorettes haven’t gotten the same love as Bachelors when it comes to the chance to complete in the ballroom. The fact that it’s finally happening again for a female franchise lead is long overdue. I will be watching, glass of wine in hand, and cheering her on."
She explained on the Talkhouse Podcast that this is just Fleiss covering for his past mistakes.
"So [Fleiss] lets all the Bachelors go on and the only reason he let Hannah go on this season of Dancing with the Stars is because — well, I hope I had something to do with it, that I said something — but because he’s in hot water because there’s some s— that came out on him abusing his wife. So he’s like, ‘Look at me, I love women.’ As long as he’s in power with ABC, I will never get on that show."
And we thought things were dramatic onscreen!
