Former “Bachelor” host Chris Harrison is launching a new dating show on Dr. Phil’s network

“This dating show will be the most dramatic ever — that you can be sure of,” the two-time Daytime Emmy nominee said.

Chris Harrison is returning to his roots.

The former Bachelor host is launching a new dating show on Dr. Phil’s cable network, Merit Street Media. The untitled series is part of an overall deal with the network that will also spawn a weekday morning talk show that Harrison will host with his wife Lauren Zima.

Details on the dating show are scarce, but Dr. Phil McGraw teased the series to Entertainment Tonight. "It has dating elements in it, but this is so different and so novel," he said. "It is flipping the script in a way that I think people are gonna become addicted to it in a week. It is unbelievable."

"People got to know and love me for two decades hosting The Bachelor, so, yes, we are going to be creating a reality dating show," Harrison told the outlet. "For years and years I said, 'This is the most dramatic show ever.' We want to create a show where those words actually ring true, so this dating show will be the most dramatic ever — that you can be sure of."

Harrison is particularly excited to start work on the dating show because it’s being produced in his hometown, Dallas. "Call it divine intervention, karma, kismet, whatever it is, the fact that Dr. Phil created this network in my own backyard here in Dallas, it means the world to me to, not only be returning to television, but to be doing it here in a hometown crowd," Harrison said.

Harrison began hosting The Bachelor in 2002, its inaugural season. He also served as host for The Bachelorette starting in 2003 and Bachelor in Paradise in 2014. He left all three series in 2021 after facing extensive criticism for defending a Bachelor contestant who was under fire after photos surfaced of them attending a "plantation-themed" sorority party a few years prior. On a podcast last year, Harrison expressed that he "will forever be grateful" to the franchise and that he holds "no animosity" toward the shows’ creative teams.
