Today is National TV Talk Show Host Day, so we’d like to tip our hats — not to the respected or to the riotous — but instead, to the Top 5 Most Ridiculous Talk Show Hosts of All Time.

#5. Morton Downey Jr.

After getting fired from his AM radio slot in Sacramento, Downey launched the sleazy circus that was The Morton Downey Jr. Show. Downey berated his guests, often deliberately pitting them against each other to drive them to violent confrontations, such as this 1988 fight between politician Roy Innis and activist Al Sharpton.

#4. Eric Andre

On the flipside of the same coin, The Eric Andre Show puts his guests in uncomfortable situations, but his show is all done for laughs. Andre and cohost Hannibal Buress confuse, irritate and torture celebrities like James Van Der Beek, Flavor Flav, and T.I. with extreme temperatures, overly bright stage lights, and a few other surprises.

#3. Chelsea Handler

Another comedian who puts her guests on the spot, but without the violence or terror, Handler has carved out a niche audience with her brutally honest gossip and frank round table discussions. Her photographic protests against Instagram’s nudity clause has repeatedly gotten her kicked off the site, but none of it seems to phase the outspoken Handler.

In 14 years on his syndicated show, Stern was fined $2.5 million by the FCC for indecency claims that include asking callers if they ever committed beastiality, featuring a man playing the piano with his penis, and hypnotizing a woman into sexual climax… That’s why they call Howard the King of All Media!

What would daytime TV be like without Jerry Springer resting comfortably at rock bottom? His annual low class, bar-lowering antics include fist fights, food fights, and lots of hair-pulling. Springer in his signature suit appears like he’s above the trash he parades across his stage, but he’s laughing all the way to the bank.
