More Than Just Horror in Our Exclusive 'As Above/So Below' Extended Restricted Trailer

For a guy who doesn’t like horror movies, Ben Feldman sure finds himself in his share of them.

Though primarily known for his TV work on Mad Men (and soon enough for the upcoming NBC show A to Z), Feldman has acted in an array of films, including two horror movies: Cloverfield and the 2009 remake of Friday the 13th. That number climbs to three with his appearance in the upcoming As Above/So Below — the extended restricted trailer of which debuts exclusively on Yahoo Movies.

So why would a guy who admits he doesn’t like horror movies —  and who was “pretty set on never being in one again” – decide to take on such scary fare?

"It’s not the typical horror movie with a bunch of pretty kids going into a haunted house and running around screaming being chased by ghosts," he explained in a recent phone conversation. "It’s an adventure movie. It’s intelligent characters that are fleshed out. They’re real people that you feel like you know; they’re not just archetypes."

The story centers around a team of explorers and archeologists hoping to find the Sorcerer’s Stone (yes, Harry Potter fans, that Sorcerer’s Stone) in the vast network of catacombs that lie beneath the streets of Paris. Of course, the subterranean maze is filled with countless dead who apparently aren’t resting so peacefully.

"Everything that’s referenced in this movie is real. You can go home and Google everything that’s mentioned. It’s really, in a way, a brief, fun lesson in alchemy and history and science and archeology. Yeah, it’s scary as s---, but at the same time it’s an adventure movie, and that’s what drew me to it."

As Above/So Below opens wide this Friday.
