Foothills Performing Arts presents 'Harold and Maude'

Oct. 5—The Foothills Performing Arts will present the off-beat comedy "Harold and Maude" during the first two weekends in October.

Show dates are Friday through Sunday, Oct. 6 through Oct. 8 and Oct. 13 through Oct. 15.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 2:30 p.m. on Sundays, at Lenoir High School, 1114 College Ave.

Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults. Tickets can be purchased online in advance or at the door the day of the show.

"Harold and Maude" is an off-beat, up-beat comedy. The performance will be a stage adaptation of the movie, which is rated PG-13. "Harold and Maude" is about a suicidal 19-year-old boy who learns how to truly live when he meets the delightfully wacky octogenarian, Maude.

Harold is the proverbial poor little rich kid. His alienation has caused him to attempt suicide several times, though these incidents are more cries for attention than actual attempts. His peculiar attachment to Maude, whom he meets at a funeral (a mutual passion) is what saves him and what captivates us.

The show contains adult situations, honest discussions and depictions of suicide, loud gunshots and a seal.
