Football action, Thanksgiving prep, concerts, fairs and more top Delaware weekend fun

Howdy, folks. Welcome to your weekend.

This is the first all-in-on-fall weather stretch, so bundle up, buttercups. The high Saturday in the Wilmington region is 62 degrees, with a low of (brrrrr!) 39. Pretty much the same situation for Sunday, with a high of 64 and a bit more sunshine in the forecast.

We gain an hour tonight (or tomorrow, depending on how you care to look at it), so fall back with the rest of us.

The Eagles take on the Cowboys Sunday at 4:25 p.m. Here's our expert picks. And if you're getting a jump on holiday shopping, consider the new Eagles' holiday album.

Cheering on the Blue Hens? Here's what you need to know about Elon at Delaware, with kickoff at 1 p.m.

Patricia Talorico offers this great roundup of places to land a Thanksgiving dinner reservation or score a Delaware farm-grown turkey. Plan now for that perfect day.

Can’t wait that long for your turkeys and mash? Ryan Cormier has the solution.

Or, if you want your Thanksgiving in a bowl and served cold, Greg Giesen has a solution for that too, whipped cream optional.

Want to see a Delaware-educated legend? Catch Loudon Wainwright III in Elkton, Maryland on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Here are some more things to do this weekend:

Renaissance Faire continues

Sword fighting, belly dancing and lots of mead (plus more excitement) will be on tap at the Delaware Renaissance Faire, which is three times longer this year.

The faire has expanded from one weekend to three. The fun continues at Fire Base Lloyd (446 Fleming Landing Road, Townsend) on Saturday, Nov. 4; Sunday, Nov. 5; Saturday, Nov. 11; Sunday, Nov. 12. Each day is 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., rain or shine. For tickets and more info, visit delafaire.com.

Basketball theater show at DTC

The Harlem Globetrotters get a lot of praise. But they weren't the first all-Black professional basketball team.

That would be the New York "Harlem" Rens, spotlighted in the theatrical basketball production "Kings of Harlem." The team was formed a few years before the Globetrotters and overcame hurdles to win over 2,000 games, according to Delaware Theatre Company's website.

Delaware Theatre Company (200 Water St., Wilmington) at 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4; 2 p.m. Sunday Nov. 5; 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8; 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9.  Final show date is Sunday, Nov. 12. Tickets start at $32. Visit delawaretheatre.org or (302) 594-1100.
