A pileup on Interstate 35 in Fort Worth on February 11 left at least five people dead, a police spokesperson told local media. The incident was described as a “mass casualty incident” by first responders, according to the report.
The highway was shut down as multiple people were trapped in their cars, KTVT said.
The Fort Worth Fire Department said they were on scene with “multiple vehicles involved and multiple people trapped.”
The National Weather Service had previously warned of icy roadways overnight due to freezing conditions in Fort Worth and surrounding areas.
