Foodie alert! Taste of Old Towne: Savor flavors at 16 Petersburg restaurants, businesses
PETERSBURG — Hey, foodies! Here's a tasty event for you. Taste of Old Towne, originally scheduled for Saturday, September 23, has been postponed to Saturday, October 7 because Mother Nature may drop buckets and buckets of rain on the city. The event planners switched it up for the sake of safety and so the experience will be more enjoyable.
Ticket sales will continue. Friends, family, neighbors and coworkers can have fun while they sample a variety of dishes from participating restaurants.
The event hosted by Main Street Petersburg and Appomattox Event Center is the perfect opportunity to support your favorite eateries and businesses while you discover new ones. Plus, you can browse and shop from a wide selection of products and services from featured businesses.
The Apothic Company plans to provide samples of Birdie's pimento cheese from South Hill, Va., Natural Blonde bloody mary mix, Southern Roots Sisters jellies and South Bend gourmet popcorns. Shut Yo Mouf Soulfood Restaurant will show off its fried chicken party wings, mac and cheese, candied yams and freshly brewed sweet tea.
On Saturday, October 7 from 2 - 5 p.m. travel from bite-to-bite at 16 restaurants and businesses in Petersburg.

Check in is from 1:45 - 4:30 p.m. at Petersburg Area Art League's Art Park located at 7 E. Old St. where the ticket booth will be located. General admission tickets are $35 each, children age 7 - 12 are $15 and 6 and under are free. Ticketholders will receive wristbands and passports. General admission tickets purchased in advance at eventbrite.com are $30. The online ticket sales end Friday, September 22 at 5 p.m.
The After Party from 5 - 8 p.m. will take place at the Appomattox Event Center located at 9 W. Old St. in Old Towne. William Estremera Jr., DJ Willikin "Stop The Madness" Latino Show host on WRIR 97.3 FM, will provide the tunes. This is event is free for Taste of Old Towne participants with their wrist bands. There is a suggested $5 donation for all others.
