Fond du Lac's can't-miss events include outdoor shopping and plenty of live music

FOND DU LAC - There are several options to hear live music and do some outdoor shopping this week in Fond du Lac.

Here are five can't-miss events happening in the community this week.

1. Thelma's Annual Street Concert to feature Little River Band

Little River Band will be the headliner for Thelma’s Annual Street Concert.

The concert begins at 5:30 p.m. July 1 with opening act MoJoe and takes place outdoors on Sheboygan Street.

General admission is free, but VIP tickets will be available offering the best seats and exclusive bar and bathroom access. VIP tickets are $50, though chairs are not allowed in this area. Purchase tickets at thelmaarts.org.

Wristbands will be required for alcohol purchase and are $2 each. Carry-ins and pets will not be allowed.

2. Night Market offers art, music, kids' games

The Downtown Fond du Lac Night Market, offering art, music, shopping and more, will be 5 to 8 p.m. June 29 in the Main Street Plaza and along Sheboygan Street.

This event is family-friendly and admission is free.

Some of the items available to purchase will be fresh produce, prepared foods and artwork.

Live music this week will be provided by Hold’em High.

Kids can enjoy outdoor games.

People are requested to leave their pets at home for this event.

3. Children's Museum holds special summer programs

The Fond du Lac Children’s Museum offers a variety of programs during the summer months.

Brain Builders begins at 11 a.m. Saturdays through Sept. 2 at the museum, 75 W. Scott St.

From birth to age 5 is when a child’s brain grows the fastest. The program is intended to engage children in simple and fun activities you can also do at home. It is free with daily admission or membership.

4. Fresh produce, baked goods and more available at farmers' market

Stroll through the booths of more than 80 vendors during the Downtown Fond du Lac Farmers' Market.

Markets run 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays through October on Main Street from Forest to Western avenues.

Items available include produce, plants, flowers, baked goods, meats, cheese, as well as crafts, arts, pottery, and other handmade items.

The market is pet-friendly, but they must be leashed and under control at all times. Be prepared to clean up after your pet.

5. Enjoy live music at Buttermilk, Lakeside Parks

This week’s Music Under the Stars featured performer is the Jesse Stratton Band. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. July 3 at the Wifler Performance Center in Buttermilk Park, Fond du Lac. Admission is free.

Take a lawn chair or blanket. Snacks and beverages will be available to purchase starting at 6:15 p.m.

The next day, July 4, the Fond du Lac Symphonic Band will hold its Americana Concert at 7:30 p.m. at Lakeside Park prior to the fireworks. The music selections will be from American composers and include patriotic favorites, and American marches.
