If you’re in the same boat (or plane), check out these DM 01 jeans from Vince. Tom Cruise wore a customized version of the jeans throughout Top Gun: Maverick as the base for his off-duty looks. The jeans make sense for Cruise’s iconic pilot character, boasting a classic straight fit, a medium vintage wash, and a versatile relaxed fit.
Luckily for us wannabe pilots, the DM 01 jeans are available now at Vince.com for $225, lending a great foundation for any Top Gun-inspired outfits.

Besides their masculine good looks, the jeans were also selected for comfort. Top Gun: Maverick costume designer Marlene Stewart worked with Vince to create a pair of jeans that were comfortable enough for Cruise to wear during long shoots and, most importantly, flexible enough to straddle his signature motorcycle (the hem also had to fit over Cruise’s motorcycle boots). The DM 01’s cotton-elastane blend fabric fit the bill, with just a bit of stretch for more comfort than 100% cotton denim jeans.

Once you’ve secured the Vince jeans, there are a few other pieces to round out any Top Gun looks — check them out below.
1. Ray-Ban Aviator Sunglasses
GlassesUSA
Arguably the most enduring sunglasses of all time, the Ray-Ban Aviators are a classic worthy of any eyewear rotation. Originally designed for actual pilots in the Thirties, the silhouette remains a staple in many a wardrobe — Maverick’s included. The glasses are very lightweight, and offer more ray-blocking coverage than most.
2. A White T-Shirt
Everlane
If you don’t already have a plain white tee (or need a refresh), we recommend this one from Everlane. It’s made of heavyweight cotton that gives it a more premium look, but the fabric also holds up to serious wear (maybe while working on your classic Porsche). Throw it on over the Vince x Top Gun jeans for an easy casual look, or dress it up with slacks and dress shoes.
3. A Flight Jacket
Alpha Industries
For the full aviator look, pick up a bomber jacket like this Alpha Industries CWU 45/P. It’s inspired by vintage Navy pilot jackets with a water-resistant nylon build, ribbed knit cuffs, and a collar. A quilted nylon lining also ensures real warmth, making the jacket a good choice for layering or wearing solo in transitional months. Although it can of course be worn like Mav with jeans, boots, and aviator sunglasses, the MA-1 looks great with chinos and casual sneakers as well.
