Kate's confirmation of her cancer diagnosis is the latest in health issues that the royal family has announced over the past few months.

In February, Buckingham Palace revealed that Charles himself was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer, which doctors discovered while the King received treatment for an enlarged prostate.

Kate herself was initially admitted in January for an abdominal surgery, and doctors reportedly discovered the cancer after a successful operation. She's now on a "recovery pathway" after starting chemotherapy treatment in late February.

Another Royal, Sarah, the Duchess of York, also announced that she was receiving medical treatment in early 2024. She revealed that doctors had diagnosed her with malignant melanoma, which is a form of skin cancer.

She spoke about how her husband, Prince William, and their three kids, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, have been a "source of comfort" to her as she receives treatment.

In the video, Kate also addressed the public and thanked them for "the love, support, and kindness" that she's received amidst her health issues. Then she said, "We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment."

Kate further said in the statement that she's anticipating returning to her Royal duties when she's treated herself fully. She said, "My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery."
