Florence Pugh has a close bond with her siblings: Arabella, Toby and Raffie.

The Don’t Worry Darling star was born to restaurateur Clinton Pugh and dancer Deborah Mackin in Oxford, England, in January 1996. Before her arrival, though, the couple welcomed daughter Arabella Gibbins in November 1985 and Toby Sebastian (born Sebastian Toby M. Pugh) in February 1992. Several years after Florence's birth, Rafaela “Raffie” Pugh completed the family when she was born in September 2003.

While she may be an Academy Award-nominated actress herself, she followed in the footsteps of her mother, Arabella and Toby. Florence and her siblings pursued the arts, with the actress joking to The Guardian in October 2018, “We’re like the Von Trapps, but not quite as pretty or perfect.”

Her older sister studied English literature at the University of Bristol before receiving her bachelor of arts in theater at The Oxford School of Drama, followed by a master of fine arts in voice studies, according to her LinkedIn. Florence lauded her sister’s education, telling the outlet, “She is the only one who actually studied, so she’s the one with all the knowledge.”

Her older brother also began acting when he was just 16, and he's an accomplished musician whose songs have earned millions of streams on Spotify. As a younger sibling, Florence idolized her brother, telling the outlet, “I remember watching him for years so, by the time I stepped up, I kind of knew the harsh reality of how things worked.”

Meanwhile, Raffie is still beginning her career and expressed interest in costume design. She’s also shown off her musical side and has performed live with their older brother.

“My siblings are just as big in my life as my parents,” Florence told Vogue in January 2023. “The best sign of a good person is the ability to laugh at yourself. And siblings were crucial for that. With the job that I do, it’s so important to have people who are gonna say, ‘Hey, I know you didn’t mean it, but you were being a bit of a muppet.’ ”

Here’s everything to know about Florence Pugh’s siblings — Arabella, Toby and Raffie — and their relationship with their actress sister.

They lived in England and Spain

Florence and her two older siblings were born and raised in England until the actress turned 3, and the family moved from England to Spain for her health. Florence was later diagnosed with tracheomalacia, a condition that causes the walls of a child’s trachea to collapse.

After being in and out of hospitals as a baby, Florence's parents moved their family to live near the ocean in Spain, where they could ride their bicycles anywhere.

According to the actress' interview with Vogue in January 2023, they moved back to England when she was 6, and life changed without the freedom Spain provided, but they made do.

“Dad would get clay; we were constantly making and drawing things,” she said, adding that they would also have family sketching nights where they would pose in silly positions for one another.

Florence was 7 when her younger sister Raffie was born. She opened up to Vogue in January 2023 about her younger sibling, explaining that she would often act like she was also her sister’s mom.

“She was as much my baby as she was my mum’s,” Florence explained. “I’d wake up early in the mornings on the weekend to go and collect her from her cot. And my parents would have a lie-in, and I’d make her a bottle and we’d watch Friends together.”

Florence and her siblings all expressed an interest in acting

Though all of her siblings had to spend time working at their father’s restaurants, they all pursued acting in their own ways.

Arabella studied theater and the fine arts as an undergraduate and graduate student. She was a co-writer and a producer on the short Swim to Land, in which Toby starred as one of the leads. Ultimately, though, Arabella chose to go down a more musical path.

Toby began acting as a teenager when he landed his first acting role in 2012’s After the Dark and later appeared in several other movies, including Barely Lethal in 2015. He also portrayed Andrea Bocelli's alter ego, Amos Bardi, in 2017’s The Music of Silence. In addition to the big screen, Toby landed gigs on TV shows like The Red Tent and Game of Thrones.

As the youngest of the family, Raffie started acting when she was still in school and appeared in 2014’s Born of War, per Florence’s January 2020 interview with Vogue. The Dune: Part Two revealed that her sister had expressed interest in a more behind-the-scenes role in costume design.

They have a musical side

In addition to their work behind and in front of the camera, Florence and her siblings all have a musical side they embrace.

While Florence used to upload singing videos to her YouTube channel and has had songs featured on the soundtracks of her movies Don’t Worry Darling and A Good Person, her two older siblings have pursued music careers.

According to her website, Arabella is a vocal coach in London and Liverpool, with clients including The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama and her alma mater, The Oxford School of Drama. She also offers one-on-one singing lessons and specializes in voice actor work.

Toby released his first album, Into the Light, in 2013 and has released several singles in the years since, including his 2021 song “Midnight” featuring Florence. In March and April 2024, he will embark on his Something Romantic tour, which includes dates across the U.K., Germany and the Netherlands.

Raffie has also joined her big brother onstage on several occasions over the years, including shows in April and May 2022 and again in April 2023.

They’re supportive of one another

There is no shortage of love and support between the Pugh siblings.

Toby spoke to Metro in April 2023 about how Florence’s career has influenced his own, noting that there was a period in their careers where they would both land jobs at the same time.

“They were both kind of big in different ways and I always say to people, having a sibling doing incredibly well is the best situation you could possibly have,” he explained. “I wouldn’t want any one of my siblings to not be doing well."

Toby added, "If someone that you love can excel in their career, then as far as I’m concerned that’s the absolute dream!”

When Florence was nominated for her first Academy Award in 2020 for her role as Amy March in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women, Toby celebrated his sister and the milestone moment on social media, sharing a photo of the brother-sister duo.

“You have worked your a--- off and you’ve been exquisite in every single one of your performances,” he wrote in part. “Proud doesn’t cover it. Congratulations fatso, I love you.”

They have plenty of fun together

The Pugh family knows how to have fun: Florence described her parents and siblings as “very loud” during a December 2023 appearance on the Dish podcast.

Despite having a rambunctious family, the actress said they had gotten “tamer over the years” because they now see one another more often.

“There was a good few years where we were all away from home working and doing things and we hadn’t seen mum or dad or hadn’t seen gran and so when we’d all come to home, everybody would have this cool story that they had to tell or a new song that they could play,” Florence explained. “And so it was like ‘Tada!’ “

Despite their new dynamic, Florence had fond memories of spending time with her family, especially around the holidays. She shared, “It was so fun because you’d be quickly learning about your sibling in about two seconds. ... It’s always been loud and lovely and full of food and always a sing song and there’s always a few songs on the guitar.”

Toby showed off some of the Pugh family bonding around the holidays on his Instagram in December 2019, sharing a black-and-white video of their energetic festivities full of music, laughter and a conga line.
