‘Florence Foster Jenkins’ Scribe Nicholas Martin Inks With ICM Partners

EXCLUSIVE: ICM Partners has signed writer Nicholas Martin, who penned the script for Paramount’s awards-season pic Florence Foster Jenkins, directed by Stephen Frears and starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant.

Martin, who began his career writing feature pieces about his travels and contributing to British newspapers, is currently attached to write the screenplay for The Duke, a true story about Kempton Bunton, a 57-year-old bus driver and would-be playwright from Newcastle who stole Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington from London’s National Gallery. The film will be produced by Nicky Bentham of Neon Films, in collaboration with the Bunton family. Pathe is handling international sales.

On the television side, Martin’s first produced episodic script, Between The Lines, was a BAFTA Award-winning series and he regularly contributed to popular British TV programs including The Bill and Midsomer Midsomer.

He continues to be repped in the UK by Charles Walker.
