Flooded Streets in Alexandria After Ice and Slush Blocks Drains

City officials asked residents to stay off roads in Alexandria, Louisiana, on February 17 after ice blocked storm drains and caused flooding.

Roads were “slick and hazardous and driving will push more ice and debris into drains,” the city said.

Alexandria was under a winter storm warning on February 17.

The National Weather Service said the severe weather brought freezing rain, hail and strong winds to Louisiana, with temperatures not rising above freezing in Alexandria. Credit: City of Alexandria, Louisiana via Storyful
