‘Flip or Flop’s’ Tarek El Moussa Had Dated His Kids’ Former Nanny Post-Split, Says Source

Flip or Flop‘s Tarek El Moussa dated a former nanny he had hired to take care of his children after his separation from wife Christina, a source tells PEOPLE.

“Yes, he dated a nanny,” says the source. “To be clear this was someone he hired to help when he had the kids after the separation. This was not the nanny they’ve had for years.

“Christina feels awful that people think it’s her nanny,” says the source, adding that the pair are no longer dating. TMZ identified the former flame as Alyssa Logan, 23, and the source confirmed that was the same woman Tarek had been dating.

On Monday, the HGTV couple announced that their split, although they had been living separately since May. Christina, 33, had been living in the couple’s Orange County, California, home with their children — daughter Taylor, 6, and son Brayden, 1.

As PEOPLE had previously reported, both Christina and Tarek have been dating other people since their separation and the mom-of-two had begun a romance with a fellow design professional after their friendship turned romantic.

A source previously told PEOPLE that the couple — who rose to fame for their design show on HGTV — chose to keep their separation private because it “was nobody’s business at the time.

“They aren’t Hollywood in the spotlight kind of people,” the source said. “They pretty much do their show and whatever else they have to do for it and that’s it.”
