Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles announce joint festival

Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles will headline The Classic, a new, two-day festival with west and east coast iterations set for two weekends in July. The Classic West will be held at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium on July 15 and 16, while The Classic East will take place two weeks later at New York’s Citi Field on July 29 and 30. Steely Dan, Journey, The Doobie Brothers, and Earth, Wind & Fire will fill out the lineups for both weekends.

For The Classic East and The Classic West, the Eagles will headline Saturday with support from Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers and Fleetwood Mac will headline Sunday with support from Journey and Earth, Wind & Fire.

Earlier this month, news began to percolate that Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles were creating The Classic, but Wednesday’s announcement confirmed the event and revealed its complete lineups.

With The Classic, promoters could be attempting to capture some of the enthusiasm audiences displayed for the two weekends of 2016’s Desert Trip festival, which brought together Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Neil Young, and Roger Waters at the same Indio, Calif. venue where Coachella is held annually.

Currently, The Classic has only announced two-day ticket options. Passes to the festival go on sale April 7.
