The movie will be hitting theaters nationwide on May 31, and tickets are already available at the cinema's website, FlatRockCinema.com, according to cinema owner Bryan Byrd.

"The team at Flat Rock Cinema is excited to be screening 'Summer Camp' when it breaks nationally on Friday. May 31," he told the Times-News on May 1. "Camp Pinnacle is just down the street, and so many of our patrons, friends and neighbors were extras or were actively involved in supporting the filmmaking process."

The film was written and directed by Castille Landon and stars Oscar-winning actresses Diane Keaton and Kathy Bates and also Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Alfre Woodard — "12 Years a Slave," "The Book of Clarence." Keaton won Oscars for her roles in "First Wives Club" and "Annie Hall," and Bates won Oscars for three films: "Misery," "Titanic" and "Richard Jewell."

Other big-name stars are Eugene Levy, who starred in the sitcom "Schitt’s Creek" and also the "American Pie" films. Beverly D'Angelo, known for her role in "National Lampoon’s Vacation," Dennis Haysbert, who has starred in "Far from Heaven" and "24," Nicole Richie, who was in "Bless This Mess" and Josh Peck of "Oppenheimer."

The movie tells the story of Nora (Keaton), Ginny (Bates) and Mary (Woodard), who have been best friends since being inseparable at summer camp in their younger years. As the years have passed, they’ve seen each other less and less, so when the chance to reunite for a summer camp reunion arises, they all take it.

Byrd said the cinema, located at 2700-D Greenville Highway, plans on having the film for two weeks and will also offer private screenings during the run.

Showtimes for the first week are as follows:

  • May 31: 3:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m.

  • June 1: 3:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m.

  • June 2: 1 p.m., 4 p.m. (open caption screening)

  • June 4: 3:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m.

Byrd said tickets for these showings will also be available at Flat Rock Cinema's box office. More information is also available by calling the cinema at 828-697-2463.
