Amanda Waller has been stepping up her campaign against superheroes in the build to this summer’s Absolute Power event. The Flash #8 by Simon Spurrier and Ramón Pérez found the woman called “The Wall” taking the next step in her plan. This involved outlawing speedsters in the United States and banning them from using their powers.

The action of issue centered around every Speed Force user on Earth being run ragged. This was due to the breakdown of reality, which has been at the center of the current The Flash series. Another point of concern was the sudden disappearance of Wally West amid all the other chaos. Given that, Amanda Waller and her Bureau of Sovereignty launching a raid on Terrifitech seemed a minor concern.

Unfortunately, Mister Terrific was too busy helping with damage control to stop the Wall from accessing his files. The Pied Piper tried to warn The Flash family about what was going on and how Amanda Waller might spin their data. While the Terrifictech scientists were sure there was another explanation, all signs pointed towards the Speed Force warping reality whenever a speedster used their powers.

The issue ended with Amanda Waller taking over a superhero-friendly podcast that was interviewing Iris West. The Wall informed the listeners that the Bureau of Sovereignty had evidence that The Flash and speedsters like him were responsible for the dimensional anomalies threatening Earth. To that end, she commanded all speedsters everywhere to stop using their powers or “suffer the consequences.”

It’s an easy guess that those consequences are lethal, given the violent means employed by the Bureau of Sovereignty to date. However, it is unclear just how Amanda Waller intends to stop The Flash and other speedsters from using their powers. In any case, Waller has just made herself a target for one of the most tight-knit and powerful groups in the DC Universe.

The Flash #8 is now available at comic shops everywhere.
