Calgary Flames defenceman T.J. Brodie returned to practice for the first time since collapsing on the ice on November 14.

Brodie rejoined the Flames for the road trip and resumed skating Thursday, before taking part in practice Sunday.

He is considered a game-time decision for Monday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, according to Sportsnet’s Ryan Leslie.

During the Nov. 14 practice, Brodie collapsed to the ice in a frightening incident and was immediately taken to hospital. Brodie was subsequently released from the hospital on the same day.

“I think the biggest takeaway is that I’m still here. I still get to play hockey. At the end of the day, family is the most important thing,” Brodie said.

Brodie posted eight assists in 21 games, averaging 19:13 minutes per game.

Prior to Saturday’s victory over the Philadelphia Flyers, the Flames were mired in a six-game losing streak and Brodie’s eventual return to the lineup will surely be viewed as a welcome development.
