Fla. Teacher Arrested 3 Times in 1 Week, Charges Include Unlawful Carrying of Weapons and Threatening Harm

Hawazin Gridley Wright allegedly harassed and threatened a woman, interrupted a pro-Palestine rally and made antisemitic threats

A Florida man was arrested three times within one week and charged with a variety of different alleged offenses, including concealing a weapon at a protest, possession of drugs and threatening a woman with death.

Hawazin Gridley Wright was arrested on Sunday Nov. 19 for running through a pro-Palestine protest and hiding a knife under his guitar in West Palm Beach, Fla., WPDE, CBS 12 and WPTV report.

He was charged for unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest and traffic obstruction for the Nov. 19 offense, according to court documents reviewed by PEOPLE. He pled not guilty to the first two charges; no plea has been entered for the charge regarding the traffic violation.

He’d soon be back in police custody. On Friday Nov. 24, he was charged with possession of drugs and assault with a deadly weapon, court records show; he has not entered a plea for those charges.

After his release, the Boynton Beach Community High School teacher was arrested again on Sunday and charged after allegedly threatening a woman with death after he made antisemitic comments, WPTV reports.

Court records show he was charged with harassing phone calls and written threats to cause harm. He has not entered a plea for these charges.

He allegedly made harassing phone calls and threatened to kill a woman he had gone on three dates with,  according to the arrest affidavit, per WPDE. After the woman, 46, learned about his record, she tried to stop seeing him, then the threats allegedly began.

According to the arrest report, the alleged threats included that she needed to watch “how she talks to him,” that she was a “dead woman walking” and that he wanted to “punch a Jew in the face,” WPTV and WPDE reported.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the woman is of Jewish faith and whether the alleged antisemitic threats were directly about her. Court records don’t indicate any hate-crime charges against him.

He also allegedly said she would be dead if she let his phone calls go to her voicemail, according to the arrest report, per WPDE. PEOPLE was not able to immediately reach his attorney. It is unclear if he's still employed by the school.
