Fla. Mom Found Dead in Daytona Beach Apartment Fire Was Reportedly Stabbed 100 Times

The 30-year-old mother of three was pronounced dead on-scene on Nov. 21

Den’Jah Moore, the Florida mom who was found stabbed to death in an apartment fire, was reportedly stabbed 100 times with a knife, reports FOX35, WSVN, WESH and Click Orlando.

Moore, who was pronounced dead on-scene on Nov. 21, was found to be inflicted with approximately 100 knife wounds and severe burns, according to a new arrest affidavit, reports FOX35.

Additionally, the affidavit reports that Moore’s apartment was fully engulfed with flames with the windows and doors emitting black smoke.

The kitchen stove’s four burners were turned on with large amounts of paper and a box located on the stovetop, according to the affidavit, reports WESH. It was determined by the Florida State Fire Marshall investigator that the fire was criminal in nature and an intentional act with two arson locations, reports WSVN.

On Nov. 21, police and firefighters were called to the apartment at 1200 Belville Road in Daytona Beach and found the 30-year-old mother and her three children inside, according to FOX35.

Her three children — a 10-month-old boy, a 4-year-old and a 5-year-old — were taken to the hospital where the infant later died, according to FOX35. The two older children remain in critical condition at the hospital, according to WESH.

On Nov. 22, the suspect Charles Ivy, 34, was charged. He is facing two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted felony murder and arson, FOX35 reported.

Per FOX35, the affidavit stated Ivy was taken to the Ormond Beach Police Department where he admitted to detectives he went to Moore's apartment on Nov. 21 at 11 p.m. Authorities believe the fire started between 11:32 p.m. and 11:42 p.m.

According to the affidavit, Ivy then told police he stayed at the victim’s apartment until 11:35 p.m. The report said that he then remained in the parking lot for an additional 30 minutes, allegedly making him present at the time of the murders and arson, reports Click Orlando.

On the day of Ivy’s arrest, Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young said during a press conference that the deadly incident was the “most horrendous and horrific crime” he had “experienced throughout [his] entire career," WESH reported.

During the press conference, Young said he believed Ivy is the father of at least two of the children, according to FOX35. "This is most definitely domestic in nature," Young said of the case.

Representatives for Daytona Beach Police Department and Florida's State Fire Marshal did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for additional information on Tuesday.
