Dave and Jenny Marrs are busy HGTV stars and the parents of five children, but they always make time to support causes close to their hearts. This time of year, their attention turns to their fields and the upcoming Berry Fest.
On June 22, the Fixer to Fabulous stars will host the fifth-annual Berry Fest in Bentonville, Arkansas. The home renovation duo has 1,500 blueberry plants and invites the public to pick up blueberries, enjoy live music, and dine from local food trucks. But, for the Marrs family, the event is much more than that.
As Jenny explains in her powerful Instagram post, they planted the fields nine years ago. She says, "We knew God had something planned for this soil. We thought we knew what would unfold in the years to come, but, of course, we had no idea."
Jenny continues to explain that the event benefits Help One Now's community care efforts in Zimbabwe and Belize. She writes, "We knew we wanted the farm to benefit our orphan-care program overseas, yet God had plans beyond our human-limiting dreams. We thought our farm would fund a small feeding program. Instead, God created a partnership and friendship across an ocean with our now dearly loved friends, John and Orpah Chinyowa. As we planted our fields in the spring of 2015, we had no way of knowing that John had dreamt for years of a farm training program for the older kids he cared for at Musha WeVana Children’s Home in Zimbabwe. We had no way of knowing the way our two dreams would beautifully collide."
The Marrs family invites the local community and fans from far and wide to support the efforts. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for children age 5-18. The event also has a special VIP option that includes a private meet-and-greet with Dave and Jenny.
Tickets are going fast and will not be available at the door—Purchase them through Eventbrite by June 10. If you're not able to attend, the Marrs family offers online donations through Virtual Berry Baskets.
