Five things to do with your family this weekend: Sept. 28-Oct. 1

Sep. 28—Looking for something to do with your family this weekend? Check out these activities around the Valley:

1. Head to The Bloomsburg Fair as it starts to wind down. The fair opens at 7 a.m. daily today through Saturday, with plenty of free music, magic shows and more. Plus, check out the buildings to see area livestock and educational programs. For a complete schedule and prices, check out bloomsburgfair.com.

2. Enjoy a good meal with a touch of magic at the Old Forge Brewing Company, 532 Mill St., Danville, tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. As part of the Going Gold initiative to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer, Brent Kessler will be doing tableside magic at the restaurant while local musician Woody Wolfe serenades diners. Adults can help the cause by buying a pint of Gold Dust Pale Ale, as Old Forge will be donating a dollar of every pint sold to ThinkBIG. For more details, go to thinkbigpa.org.

3. Help the Mifflinburg Hose Company celebrate its 125th anniversary Friday and Saturday at the Mifflinburg Community Park, 211 N. 5th St. The event kicks off Friday night at 4 p.m. with a car cruise-in. There will be kids games, a bouncy house, raffles and entertainment both nights. On Saturday, at 4 p.m., there will be a parade and fireworks at 9 p.m. For more details, look up "Mifflinburg Hose Company" on Facebook.

4. Ard's Farm is kicking off its corn maze season with its annual Glow Night on Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. Head over to the farm at 4803 Old Turnpike Road, Lewisburg, to run the maze and party with DJ Tom Starks. There will be food trucks onsite. If you can't go Friday, the maze park is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 29. For prices and details, go to ardsmarket.com.

5. Head to the Spring Township Shale Pit in Beaver Springs from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday for the Merrill W. Linn Conservancy's Community Fossil Dig. Participants can discover and collect fossils from a quarry containing a trove of ancient life and learn about the natural history of the region. The dig is free and registration isn't required but is encouraged so organizers can have enough supplies for everyone. To learn more, go to linnconservancy.org/news/.
