Thirteen acts were featured at Monroe Center for Healthy Aging’s Talent Show Friday night.

The center members/performers presented before a capacity crowd of 110 at the center on South Dixie Highway.

“Singing, of course, joke tellers, a Patsy Cline (tribute artist) and a facial demonstration (were some of the acts)," Sandie Pierce, center director, said. "The Movin’ and Groovin’ class did a dance act to ‘Workin’ at the the Car Wash.' There was a guitar and spoons duet. Roy Valentine and Anna Fleeman sang the theme song to ‘All in the Family.'"

Randy Umfress and Rena Wilson sang a gospel song at the show.

Pierce said a couple acts were especially unique.

"Patsy Cline (played by Clara Lloyd) was great. She got rid of her ex's memories, including a golf club," she said. "People loved the facial demonstration by Mary Rhoades with another person's hands applying the creams."

The center called the Talent Show a "five-star event" on Facebook. A meal preceded the show.

"I loved that there was so much laughter. It certainly was good for the soul," Pierce said. "The performers loved the accolades that they received. It was a perfect opportunity for them to show their talent and entertain."

Jon Moore was the show's producer.

“He held practices and did the lineup. His assistance certainly made the show run smoothly. Thanks also to Dean Mink for emceeing,” Pierce said.

Roy Hana from Roy's Mart gas station sponsored the church.

This was the third Talent Show for the center.

“We had ones in 2014 and 2015. This one was much better,” Pierce said.

She said the center will "absolutely" have another show.

“Back by numerous requests,” she said. “We’re planning an ‘April Fools Show’ on April 12.”
