Sky has released the first trailer for Eddie Izzard's new period drama and announced that the movie will be available to watch exclusively on Sky Cinema from March 26.

Six Minutes to Midnight, which is a Sky Original movie, is co-written by and stars Izzard, with Academy Award-winners Dame Judi Dench and Jim Broadbent also starring, and the trailer, which you can watch above, promises intrigue and action in abundance.

The movie, which is inspired by real events, is set in summer 1939 at a time when Hitler's power is growing and tensions between Germany and the UK are at a high.

Bexhill's Augusta Victoria College, a finishing school for the daughters and goddaughters of the Nazi elite, comes under close scrutiny after a teacher, Mr Wheatley, mysteriously vanishes.

The school's governess Miss Rocholl (Dench) decides to hire new teacher Thomas Miller (Izzard) to take over from Wheatley and to help prepare the school's pupils for the Anglo-German fellowship. Thomas soon attracts the attention of German teacher Ilse Keller (Carla Juri), who is hiding secrets of her own.

Caught in the crossfire as war is announced, Thomas ends up being framed for murder and he is forced to go on the run to clear his name. Will he be able to find out what Ilse is really up to and save himself?

With "Nazi conspirators" and "English traitors" seemingly involved, Thomas will find it difficult to decide who to trust.

Six Minutes to Midnight is directed by Andy Goddard, who has directed episodes of shows including Downton Abbey, Luke Cage and Doctor Who, while it is written by Izzard, Goddard and Celyn Jones, who also stars in the film.

Earlier this year Izzard clarified her feelings on gender fluidity, explaining that from now on "all my dramatic roles will be in boy mode and I will be running, I'll be doing comedy and I will be a political activist in girl mode".

Six Minutes to Midnight will be released on March 26 on Sky Cinema. If you're not a Sky subscriber, you can access all of the latest movie premieres with a Sky Cinema pass from NOW TV.
