The Green Bay area is getting its own music awards.

The first-time Bay Area Music Awards, or the Bammys for short, will recognize talent in 25 categories at a ceremony March 21 at the The Tarlton Theatre in downtown Green Bay.

Nominations are being sought from the public until Feb. 1 at thebammys.org. Nominees are limited to bands, musicians, performers and other music industry professionals in Brown, Door, Kewaunee, Marinette and Oconto counties. A sampling of categories includes original artist, album and song of the year as well as singer-songwriter, breakthrough artist, music venue and radio station of the year. Categories also recognize artists by genres and instruments.

Finalists will be selected by the Bammy Awards Committee. Members listed on the awards website are Frank Hermans, Tom Smith, Jacob Phelps, Misty Bero, Tom Johnson, Brock Muellner, Sam Stranz, Matty Day and Kylie LaCombe.

Hermans will host the awards ceremony, which will feature live music performances. Tickets to the 7 p.m. show start at $40 for a table for two, with an additional cost for preshow dinner packages at thebammys.org.

This year's WAMI Awards will be at EPIC Event Center

The Bammys won't be the only music awards ceremony in the Green Bay area this spring.

The 42nd annual Wisconsin Area Music Industry Awards, which honor musicians, venues and industry professionals statewide, will be held for the first time at 7 p.m. May 19 at EPIC Event Center in Ashwaubenon. The ceremony has most often been in Milwaukee in recent years, but the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton also hosted in 2016 and 2018.

In addition to the WAMI Awards, the evening also includes the WAMI Hall of Fame induction. Information about how to nominate someone for a WAMI is available at wami.org. Ticket information for the ceremony and a list of this year's inductees have not yet been announced.
