Country superstar Miranda Lambert has announced that on her upcoming tour she will be honoring first responders in the cities she goes to.
"I was really inspired by Kelly Ford, who honors a first responder every Friday on her show, and last November I got to nominate my husband, Brendan," Lambert said in a statement, speaking of her police officer husband, Brendan McLoughlin. "I wanted to be able to spread that to every city we’re visiting on the Wildcard Tour and say thank you to the brave men and women who keep those places safe.
So now, Lambert has chosen to hold mini contests in the cities that she goes to. Radio listeners will get the chance to nominate the first responders to get a special invitation from the singer.
Lambert posted on a video on Instagram where she teased the first night of the tour, "Happy 2020 y’all! This is our last Friday night off for a bit! Starting rehearsals for the #Wildcard tour with @codyjohnson and @lancomusicKicking off on 1/16 in Tupelo MS! See y’all out there! House husband shirtless promo volume 4."
Lambert met McLoughlin when he was on-duty, working at Good Morning America while Lambert was there to perform with Pistol Annies. He is currently taking time off supposedly to spend time with his wife.
Winners of the mini radio contests will get two free tickets and a meet and greet with the country singer. That means at every concert on the Wildcard, there will be two special guests being honored by the country star.
"It’s been incredibly inspiring to hear stories of local heroes," Lambert said in a statement about her tour, "and I’m honored to have them as our guests every night."
It is unknown if the winners will also get a chance to meet Cody Johnson and LanCo.

Miranda Lambert starts off her tour on Thursday, January 16, in Tupelo, Mississippi. You can find the rest of the dates on her website.
This is not the first time that the Pistol Annies star decided to honor first responders (see Healing the Heartland concert) and it certainly won't be the last.
Along with this, Miranda will also be her "little red wagon" to help her foundation, MuttNation. The organization helps rescue animals and shelters. This will be the sixth year that Lambert has had this on her tour. You can find out more on their website.
