Bridgerton breakout star Phoebe Dynevor has begun filming her next big project — The Colour Room — a biopic about the life of English ceramic artist Clarice Cliff.

Sky Cinema has shared the first look at Dynevor in the period drama that covers Cliff's rise to become one of the most influential Art Deco designers of her time.

The Crown star Matthew Goode plays eccentric factory owner Colley Shorter, who mentored Cliff and married her in the 1940s despite being 17 years her senior.

Dynevor, the daughter of Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor (Sally Webster), was catapulted into the limelight playing Daphne Bridgerton in Netflix's steamy period drama Bridgerton which launched in 2020. She previously appeared as a child actor in the BBC school drama Waterloo Road and had recurring roles in Prisoner's Wives, Dickensian, Younger and Snatch.

Dynevor is set to return as Daphne in the second season of Bridgerton, but her co-star Regé-Jean Page — who played her romantic foil the Duke of Hastings — will not. Page is off to pastures new (not James Bond... yet) having landed a plum role opposite Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans in The Gray Man, an upcoming Netflix spy thriller directed by Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo.

Here's a synopsis for The Colour Room: "Clarice Cliff (Dynevor) is a vivacious young factory worker in the industrial British midlands of the 1920s. Her creativity and ambition drives her to move factory to factory, despite the financial impact on the household she shares with her widowed mother Ann (Kerry Fox) and youngest sister Dot (Darci Shaw).

"Bursting at the seams with ideas for colours and shapes, Clarice takes more and more dangerous risks – but she manages to stay one step ahead of the workhouse and impress the eccentric factory owner Colley Shorter (Goode) on the way with her talent and innovation.

In the middle of the Great Depression, she ensures the factory’s survival and her future as one of the greatest Art Deco designers and a household name."

Co-produced by Sky, Caspian Films and Creative England, The Colour Room will be directed by Claire McCarthy (Ophelia) and is written by Claire Peat.
