First Five Finalists Announced on ‘America’s Got Talent’

The first round of the semifinals concluded on America’s Got Talent, revealing the first half of the acts that will be moving on to the finals in two weeks.

Among the acts that made it were two of the judges’ golden-buzzer picks, including 12-year-old singer-songwriter Grace Vanderwaal, who was Howie Mandel’s pick.

Heidi Klum couldn’t hide her joy when her golden-buzzer pick, classic-style crooner Sal Valentinetti, advanced. She ran up to the stage to greet him with kisses and hugs.

Magician Jon Dorenbos also made it to the finals, leaving the final two selections up to the viewing audience and judges. The silent comedian known as Tape Face got the viewer vote, and in dramatic fashion, Simon Cowell selected young opera singer Laura Bretan to return for the finale on Sept. 13.

America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
