The First Day of School Picture We're Royally Excited to See

Of all the adorable celebrity first day of school photos we can’t wait to see, there’s one that’s definitely on our can’t-wait-to-see-it radar. Yep, we’re talking about Kate Middleton seeing Prince George and Princess Charlotte off for their first day of school. As the summer holidays officially wind down, Prince George will be returning to school for year two, while Princess Charlotte will be joining her big brother at Thomas’s Battersea for the first time, as well.

The Cambridge family has returned from their second family vacation in Scotland and are likely in full-on school mode as so many parents are at this time. (As has been previously reported, Prince George will have a rigorous schedule this year.) Back in 2017, Duchess Kate was not able to attend George’s first day of school sendoff as a result of complications in her third pregnancy due to hyperemesis gravidarum.

But this year, Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s mom is expected see both of her children off on Thursday September 5 — and we’re desperately hoping for photos. According to Hello!, Kensington Palace is more than likely to release official pictures of the occasion for royal devotees to see with the little Prince and Princess donned in their school uniforms, which Prince George sported two years ago.

Giving their children as normal a life as possible has been a hallmark of their parenting for Prince William and Duchess Kate — who have definitely taken a note from Prince William’s late mother, Princess Diana, on that front. According to Hello!, Prince William has even shown up to school events unannounced, just like any other parent. But for Duchess Kate, being there to see both of her children off to school will be an exciting time.

We can only imagine how difficult, frustrating and ultimately sad it can be for moms anywhere to miss their children’s first day of school. So for Kate, we cannot wait to see her beaming as she sends off the two little royals to school.
