Firefighter Proposes to Girlfriend During 4th of July Parade

Alissa Berriman of Clawson, Mich., got the surprise of a lifetime when the truck she was riding in for the Fourth of July parade stopped and her firefighter boyfriend, John Sennet, led her off the truck. Amid cheers from onlookers, Sennet got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Berriman cried and said, “Yes.”

Then the proposal turned into what may have been the loudest in the history of proposals, as the fire truck horn blew and the sirens sounded. But the two weren’t bothered by the noise as they celebrated the moment.

When asked why he decided to propose on this holiday, Sennet said, “Fourth of July, for me, this is the biggest day of the year for the fire department, and those guys are all family. And what better way, I thought, than to make her think this is all about me and then just flip it.”
